AGAMA BiogasPro in the news again

South African National Energy Association (SANEA) has a monthly newsletter in which they report on the latest developments in the energy sector, including the fossil fuel and renewable energy industries. This month they have focused on the BiogasPro and its role in improving the lives of people in the Upper Thukela region in Kwazulu Natal.

Methane is a fantastic source of energy. As versatile as LP gas it is widely used in Europe in the same way as South Africans use LP gas. Biogas is around 60% methane and can be efficiently generated from cow manure. Nowhere is this more desperately needed than in the rural areas, where electricity is unavailable or unaffordable and firewood or expensive portable fuels the only option available. Many rural households have livestock or access to their manure and the savings they experience when they have a biogas digester are almost immeasurable.
